Overview

Newcastle University is committed to offering support to the very best international students hoping to pursue a programme of research.

We are pleased to offer a small number of University funded NUORS awards for outstanding international students who apply to commence PhD studies in any subject in 2016/17.  

Each award (value approximately £7,500 to £11,500 per annum) covers the difference between fees for UK/EU students and international students.

Eligibility Criteria

You could be eligible to apply for a NUORS award if:

• you have been offered a place on a PhD research programme
• you have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes, and are wholly or partially self-financing 
• you intend to register to start your studies during the 2016/17 academic year.

Applications for a NUORS award cannot be made for a course that has already been started by a student.

How to apply

You must have already applied for and been offered a place to study at Newcastle University before you apply for a NUORS award.

Please complete the NUORS application form‌ electronically and in accordance with the NUORS regulations, which are provided at the end of the application form.  You will also be required to provide details of an academic referee; the University will then contact your referee directly.

Applications must be submitted electronically via the email address provided below. Unfortunately paper copies cannot be accepted.

Application Guideline for Special Scholarship Program (SSP)

1. PROGRAM OF STUDY
Doctoral Program (3 years)

3. NUMBER OF STUDENTS TO BE ADMITTED
No more than 3 SSP students can be enrolled concurrently for each project leader. See the SSP project list for details of which projects currently have places available for SSP students.

4. ENROLLMENT TIME
April/October

5. SCHOLARSHIP TERM
One year
*The term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three years, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons stated in paragraph 13 below, Termination of SSP Student Status.

6. OBLIGATIONS
(1) The SSP student must work 50 hours per month for a specific research project at the university.

(2) The SSP student must report his/her study and research achievements to the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering at the end of each semester. The submitted report will be evaluated by the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering.

7. BENEFITS
(1)Exemption from 30,000 yen entrance examination fee, 300,000 yen enrollment fee and 535,800 yen/year tuition fee
(2)To support living expenses, 150,000 yen/month is paid for research project work.
(3)150,000 yen is provided for travel and initial living costs. (given only to international applicants who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, “Student” status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan)

8. ELIGIBILITY　Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions
(1)To have or to be scheduled to acquire a master’s degree before the KUT enrollment date
(2) To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment
(3) To have an excellent academic record and strong bachelor’s and master’s degrees from reputable universities
(4) To have the intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work in one of the designated research projects
(5) To have high English proficiency

9. APPLICATION PROCESS
(1) Choose one or two research project(s) from　the SSP Research Project List
(2) Complete and submit all required documents by post

10. ADMISSION DECISION
The submitted documents will be carefully examined in the course of the first screening. Only applicants who are successful in that screening will then be examined in such forms as an interview, an English written exam, an academic achievement written exam in the specialized field required for the conduct of the selected research project, etc. The interview and other formalities will be held at a place that will be appointed separately (The examination for the foreign applicants will be conducted hopefully in their country. However, the examination for the applicants residing in Japan will be conducted at Kochi University of Technology (KUT)).

12. SPECIAL NOTICE

(1) Students who join the projects in Economics and Management will conduct their research at Eikokuji campus which is located in down town Kochi City, 25 km from the main campus (Kami campus), and those students are also required to take classes once or twice a week at main campus. The most common means of transportation between Eikokuji campus and Kami campus are bus or JR train, and it takes around one hour.

(2) If you are still working towards your master's degree, a verified original master's degree certificate in English or Japanese from your university will be required before your enrollment can be completed. If you are not able to produce such a document, you will not be enrolled.

(3) KUT will provide appropriate single accommodation for successful applicants whose resident status in Japan is “Student.”If you desire to bring your family members and live with them in Japan, you must initiate your own apartment rental. In both cases, you need to bear your own costs.
At Kami campus, International House provides single accommodation. International students at Eikokuji campus will be offered similar housing.

(4) To complete the doctoral program as a SSP Student, you need to meet all of the following conditions.
(a) 3 year’s enrollment at KUT
(b) 10 or more credits earned
(c) Successful completion of the doctoral thesis defense after receiving a preliminary assessment held more than one year in advance
(d) Publication of two or more high level reviewed papers

(5) Students enrolled in this program can obtain Doctor of Engineering or Doctor of Philosophy depending on the research field.

(6) Newly admitted foreign doctoral students will be charged about 30,000 yen as insurance premium.
(The students who do not have "Student" status of Japanese residence will be charged about 3,000 yen as insurance premium)

(7) 3,000 yen will be charged as dues for alumni association membership.
(The students who do not have “Student” status of Japanese residence will be charged 20,000 yen for alumni association membership)

(8) In any case where a SSP student is selected as a recipient of another institution’s scholarship, his/her monthly pay as described in 7 (2) will be adjusted.

(9) The abstract of your doctoral dissertation and the results of your thesis defense will be published on the web within 3 months after the conferment of your doctoral degree, and the full text of your dissertation will be published on the web within 1 year after the conferment of your doctoral degree.
In cases where it seems inappropriate to publish a doctoral dissertation on the web due to a patent application related to the research, or some other special reasons, Kochi University of Technology may suspend the publication of the full text of a dissertation, and publish only its abstract on the web. Even in such cases, if publication of the full text of a dissertation is requested, and Kochi University of Technology agrees to the necessity, the full text of your doctoral dissertation may be disclosed.

(10) In the event that Kochi University of Technology alters the system of SSP, the terms and conditions will be revised accordingly.

13. TERMINATION OF SSP STUDENT STATUS
SSP student status will be terminated in the following cases

(1) In the case where a student's report, submitted in accordance with term 6-(2), is assessed as being below the standard for SSP students.

(2) In the case of behavior which is deemed inappropriate for a SSP student.

7 Langkah mudah mendaftar undergraduate di King Saud University

Sekarang karena sangat cepatnya perkembangan teknologi, maka segala system yang ada di kampus di arab saudi pun dikembangkan termasuk cara medaftar secara online. Khususnya di kampus King Saud University, kampus ini membuka peluang untuk semua calon mahasiswa seluruh dunia yang ingin melanjutkan study undergraduate disini. Berbeda dengan 5 tahun yang lalu semua berkas harus secara hard copy dan harus di kirim langsung ke bagian penerimaan calon mahasiswa baru di kampus King Saud University. Nah dengan kemudahan ini, maka siapa pun bisa meng "apply" pendaftaran secara online didepan komputer atau laptop secara mandiri. Dan perlu di ingat setiap data yang di upload dalam website ini harus Pdf. Jadi setiap berkas yang di minta oleh pihak kampus harus berupa Pdf.

Untuk sebagai tambahan informasi, di kampus King Saud University. Bagi kita yang berkewarganegaraan diluar dari negara timur tengah diwajibkan untuk masuk kelas bahasa terlebih dahulu. Dalam kelas bahasa terbagi empat level. Setiap level menghabisakan selama satu semester sekitar 6 bulan kurang lebih. Bila kita lolos segala berkas dan menerima pemberitahuan di email kita bahwa kita lulus dan diterima di kampus ini. Kita akan melakukan placement test, dan disitu kita di tentukan. Apakah kita masuk level 1 atau level 2 dan yang paling tinggi yaitu level 4. Setelah selesai dari kelas bahasa barulah kita masuk ke program perkuliahan.

Langsung saja pada tahap pertama, yaitu kita ke website resmi Ma'had Lughoh wa Tsaqofah King Saud University (kelas bahasa) eservices.ksu.edu.sa. Penampilan websitenya seperti yang ada pada photo pertama di atas.

Kita lanjut kepada tahap kedua, yaitu kita pilih "qism lughoh wa tsaqofah" untuk undergraduate seperti yang ada di photo berikut :

Lanjut ke tahap ke tiga, berisi tentang persyaratan, arsip yang dibutuhkan untuk mendaftar dan informasi tambahan. Bila kita sudah baca dan memahami segala yang tertera jangan lupa untuk men "centang" atau "ceklis" yang ada di paling bawah lalu klik "التالي" atau "Next" seperti yang ada di photo berikut : 

Lanjut ke tahap ke empat, kita masukkan email pribadi kita, jenis kelamin, kewarganegaraan dan data diri apakah dari (luar saudi atau dari dalam saudi) lalu klik "التالي" atau "Next" seperti yang ada di photo berikut :

Lanjut ke tahap ke lima, masukkan no passport, tanggal expired passport, nama dengan bahasa inggris, nama dengan bahasa arab, tanggal lahir. Nah untuk meng "upload' data pertama ialah "pas photo' dan yang kedua "photo passport" nah harus menggunakan Pdf.  Lalu klik "التالي" atau "Next" seperti yang ada di photo berikut :

Lanjut ke tahap ke enam, masukkan "taqdir" yang di dapat di SMA/MA dan sederajat, Lalu, masukkan nilai "muaddal" dan meng "upload" ijasah dan transkrip nilai.Lalu klik "التالي" atau "Next" seperti yang ada di photo berikut :

Lanjut ke tahap ke tujuh, masukkan informasi pribadi seperti email, no telpon, kewarganegaraan, kota asal, alamat rumah (bahasa inggris), Daerah misal daerah (Sawangan) di kota Depok dan no rumah anda. Lalu klik "حفظ" atau "Save" seperti yang ada di photo berikut :

Maka setelah melewati tujuh langkah mudah mendaftar undergraduate di King Saud University. Kita akan mendapatkan no pendaftar dan itu di simpan, agar nanti ketika pengumuman PPMI Riyadh bisa mendata dan membantu proses administrasi di kampus King Saud University.

Untuk data-data sengaja kami samarkan agar menjaga kerahasiaan pribadi orang lain. Sekarang sudah tau cara mudahnya kan? maka tunggu apa lagi mari bergabung bersama kami. Melangkah lah dengan gerakan karena rezeki datang karena ia di jemput.
